Our reed drinking straws are made from sustainable and renewable reed plants, and are perfect for milkshakes, frozen cocktails, iced coffees, smoothies or any other hot or cold beverage.

The common reed (Latin: pragmites australis) is collected in the Yagotinskiy National Reserve on the shores of Lake Supiy (Ukraine). The straws are made from the stems of already woody plants. The production process is carried out by hand with minimal machinery and is safe, non-toxic and completely environmentally friendly. No additives or stabilisers are used - the plants are cleaned with high pressure, airflow and water, disinfected in a salt solution and sterilised at high temperature.

Our reed straws are pleasant to touch and look stylish and unique in all beverages.

Reed straws are strong and flexible, do not disintegrate in liquids and do not leave unwanted residues like paper straws.

Hemp straws

Hemp (Latin: cannabis sativa) is an annual herbaceous plant, the stem of which is ideal for straw production. It is completely biodegradable. It can be composted and decomposes in 80-120 days after being discarded.

Hemp is a sustainable, environmentally friendly and non-allergenic raw material.

The unique porous structure of hemp stem allows us to use innovative technology to produce hemp straws in different colours and to add the desired scents.

These colorful and flavorful straws are ideal for cold cocktails or  milkshakes, giving an additional visual & taste effect when drinking.

Triticale straws

Triticale (Latin: Triticosecale) is a unique hybrid plant developed in 19th century Germany and Scotland by breeding between wheat (Triti cum) and rye (secale). It has valuable biochemical properties, combines the best traits of both crops: resistance to disease, drought, lodging and is very high yielding. We grow these crops on our own farm in the Poltava region of Ukraine.

Our triticale straws are made from the stalks of the cereal plants left over after the grain harvest. This production method allows us to use the remaining stalks in a sustainable way without wasting the resources of the crop.

The straws are cut from triticale stems, washed using high temperature sterilization/salt water disinfection methods to remove any dirt and other impurities. No chemicals are ever used.

Wheat and gluten go hand in hand?
Since gluten is formed and accumulated only in the grains of the crop itself, the use of stems of wheat and related varieties ensures a vanishingly small gluten footprint in the produce. The stems are treated and washed during production, so that the use of vegetable straws does not pose any risk related to intolerance to gluten or other proteins in the grain.

Production

The straws are produced using special equipment and go through a multi-stage production process, using environmentally friendly materials.

All raw materials are disinfected and washed in special barbotage baths, then straws are dried in a special dryer and undergo additional heat treatment, bleached and, if necessary, individually packaged.

We control quality of each single piece.
